United States: The Coca-Cola HBC has been asked to withdraw the sale of batches of two soft drinks after an investigation carried out into the cases of illness showed that the drinks might have caused them. The orders were passed by the State Inspection Office of Croatia on Wednesday.

In a statement published by local media, Coca-Cola HBC Croatia underscored that the company didn’t find any problems with the products during the internal assessment, although it will take them off the market until the official investigation is concluded.

However, the request by Reuters was not immediately responded to by the company.

Which case started the investigation?

Several reports by the local media have suggested that during the weekend, a young male from the Adriatic town of Rijeka complained about throat injuries after consuming a flavored mineral drink in a café, which was powered by Coca-Cola.

Reportedly, the individual has been receiving treatment in the hospital.

However, on Wednesday, six similar cases were reported in the capital, Zagreb and the town of Varadin, according to the details by Health Minister Vili Beros. The Minister underscored that all the suspected cases had sought treatment in the hospital, and most of them have now been discharged.
